My story…

The path that has brought me here has been fraught with challenge…mostly of my own design.  I’ve had several teachers…failure being my greatest.  What I’ve learned, what I can offer in the way of guidance, was gained unintentionally in the aftermath of loss, tragedy or heartbreak.  But I was conscious of my journey through all of this.  At times, all I could manage was to be present in the midst of the storm.  The outcomes of this commitment to be “in the moment”, regardless of where my circumstances drove my mind, were surprising and unexpected.  I gained, over time, the ability to understand the difference between my SELF and my created reality.  This understanding is the basis for the concept of “conscious accidents”, the foundation for my work.  “Conscious accidents” represent all those defining moments in life that are initially thought to be matters of chance–but, the subconscious is the well-spring of intention and we are all present–even in what appears to be a random decision.  Finding the intention within randomness is the beginning of learning from “conscious accidents”.

This is my story.  My narrative.  My journey.  It is told in pieces.  It is told with holistic understanding.  This is because my life was lived in pieces and those experiences helped me grow into the beginnings of a whole being.  The journey is far from over, but the story is ripe for the telling.  This story is about disillusionment, pain, light, understanding, betrayal and the first inklings of awareness.  These are the human factors that comprise my developing approach towards human development.  This is the life I live that informs the work I do.  Explore, connect, reach out—all I am and all that I will ever be is a fellow traveler and, at times, a guide on those roads I’ve already travelled.

We work on ourselves in order to help others, but also we help others in order to work on ourselves. ~ Pema Chodron
